Trainer Points (Japanese: 飼い主ポイント Kainushi pointo) are a measurement of the player's capability and experience as a dog trainer in Nintendogs. These points are used to measure the player's rank as a trainer, unlock new breeds and interiors, unlock certain items in the local store, and allows them to teach advanced tricks to their dogs. Trainer Points unlock certain items, such as Dog Breeds and new houses in the Interior Decorator.

In Nintendogs + Cats, the Trainer Points have been renamed Owner Points and can be seen in the Journal.

Trivia[]

  • There is an exploit to boost Trainer Points as much as possible without actively attending to the dog. The player must leave their dog idle on the grooming screen as they brush them, especially for an extended amount of time.
  • To check your Trainer Points, go to your "Go Out" button on the menu, then "Info", then "Trainer Info".
  • If a trainer hasn't unlocked a certain dog breed or house style with Trainer Points, they can visit a trainer they haven't met via Bark Mode.
