The Tatami Room (Japanese: 和室 Washitsu) is an Interior Decorator room in Nintendogs. It is available at the beginning of the game and costs $5,000. It is the starting home of the Japanese-only Shiba Inu & Friends.
Layout[]
The Tatami Room is a traditional Japanese home complete with fresh green Tatami Mats (woven from brush grass and cloth), Shoji screens (including a screen door), and a fountain garden. It has one broad window--through which a bonsai tree and a fenced corridor with overhanging tile roof are visible-- and reveals the occasional glimpse of another room behind the Shoji screen door.
This house style is not heavily furnished, but features a few modest decorations such as a tall dresser with a black dial telephone, a scroll wall hanging, and a prominently displayed green porcelain vase resting on a tray.
In the inaccessible room there appears to be another drawer for chinaware.
The Tatami Room has a natural ambiance of water running over rocks, since it is situated close to a quiet creek. Occasionally, the gentle sound of a small splash or of clattering bamboo stalks is audible in the background. It is a very peaceful place, much like a spa.

Trivia[]
- A blue version of the Very Fine Vase can be seen in the background. However, it can't be interacted with.
- It shares the same price with the Northern European style home.
- In Nintendogs, Archie Hubbs mentioned that he remodeled his house into a Japanese Tearoom just for his dog, Spot. The house could possibly be this house.
