StreetPass (Japanese: すれちがい通信 Surechigai tsūshin) is a new feature introduced in Nintendogs + Cats and the Nintendo 3DS lineup. It replaces Bark Mode from the original Nintendogs game as a way to search for and communicate with nearby players wirelessly.
To activate StreetPass on the Nintendogs + Cats game, players must register through the journal. Once registered, the game does not need to be currently playing for StreetPass to work; the 3DS system can be in Sleep Mode or using other software while it searches locally. The notification LED will turn green once game data has been exchanged.
Features[]
After successfully connecting to another player, their Mii info will be available in the journal. Presented in a gift box sticker, it can be opened to view their owner/pet info, photo, message, and present they have set. There will also be an option to meet up with their Mii at the park with one of their pets. If the player meets a male Mii, the present will be blue, but if the player meets a female Mii, it will be pink.
Players will not be able to meet the same Mii via StreetPass again for a while. This is different from Bark Mode, where players are able to connect with each other consecutively. Miis met through StreetPass will start to appear regularly with their puppy on the player's save file, however. There is a chance that Mii will appear on walks and give more presents to the player. They may invite the player to the Mountains park, the Seaside Park, or Café Petrov. Their puppy can be seen in competitions, as well.
If players meet a Mii with a dog breed they haven't unlocked yet, that breed will become available at the kennel.
Presents via StreetPass[]
Listed here are items the player can set as their present to give out via StreetPass. The gift will not be taken out of the player's own stock of items.
- Some items like furniture, materials, leashes, music, rainbow lures/discs, and select clothing cannot be set as presents.
