The Pembroke Welsh Corgi (Japanese: ウェルシュ・コーギー Uerushu kōgī) is a breed of dog available in Nintendogs and its 3DS sequel.

Breed Information

Official artwork of the Corgi

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is one of the two representative species of the Welsh Corgi dog breed, the other being the Cardigan Welsh Corgi

The name "Corgi" comes from the Welsh word for "dwarf dog". Corgis are famous for competing in various dog sports due to being highly intelligent, tenacious, and willing dogs. They can be quite stubborn at times, so early training is a must. They are very outgoing and alert, and must be taken outside very often.

Corgis shed frequently, so they are not a good pet for people with allergies.

Famous Pembroke Welsh Corgis include the many owned by Queen Elizabeth II of England-- whose royalty greatly contributed to the breed's popularity-- and Ein the datadog from the anime Cowboy Bebop.

In-Game Description

  • Nintendogs: "This sheepdog hails from Britain and is beloved by English royalty. It has stamina on par with larger breeds."
