The Balloon (Japanese: 風船 Fūsen) is an item in Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats that falls under the category of Toys in the Supplies. Balloons come in three colors: yellow, blue, and red. After every two balloons, the color will alternate.
A balloon can be inflated by blowing into the DS/3DS microphone. It will pop if the player blows it too big, or if one of the player's dogs pops it. Popping balloons will scare dogs, but will not cause the dogs to fear balloons.
In Nintendogs, the player can use the Balloon to teach their puppy a new trick.
In Nintendogs + Cats, balloons are already slightly inflated, but blowing into the mic will cause the balloon to become larger. Players should let go of the balloon when it reaches the preferred size, otherwise the air will escape.

- Nintendogs: "It's fun to watch puppies interact with this floating toy. (Note: It may pop.)"
- Nintendogs + Cats: "Blow into the microphone to blow the balloon up. Have a go!"
How to Obtain[]
- In Nintendogs, the Balloon can be purchased at the Discount Shop occasionally. Since prices vary each time the player visits the shop, it can range from $0.10 - $0.20. It sells for $0.10 at the Secondhand Shop.
- In Nintendogs + Cats, the Balloon can be purchased at the menu BARC for $2. It sells for $1 at the Secondhand Shop.
