Diet Food (Japanese: ダイエットフード Daiettofūdo) is a food item in Nintendogs + Cats that falls under the category of "Care" in the Supplies. It comes in a blue box with the words "Diet Food" appearing over a Shetland Sheepdog's head. When served, the food appears multicolored, with shades of both light and dark brown. It starts out served in a wooden bowl, unlike regular food, which is first served in a metal bowl. The player can change what bowl the food is served in.
Diet Food is designed for Plump and Overfed puppies. It comes in handy for when the player has fed their dog too much high-calorie food such as Wet Food, when their dog has gained weight from lack of exercise, or if their dog has started out Plump after being adopted from the Kennel. But this food should not be given liberally, as too much can make a puppy Skinny or Underfed.
Kittens will not eat this food even if they are hungry. There is a cat version instead.

How to Obtain
Diet Food can be purchased at BARC for $5 after reaching 850 Owner Points or playing for 6 days. It sells for $2 at the Secondhand Shop.
