Collar

Collars are belts that fasten around the neck of a cat or a dog. They come in many types. In Nintendogs and Nintendogs + Cats, collars can be necklaces, scarves, and anything else that can fit around the pet's neck.

In Nintendogs, choking or tugging on the dog with the collar will decrease the player's Trainer Points.

There is a total of eighteen collars to collect in Nintendogs, while there are fifty-three to collect in Nintendogs + Cats.

Nintendogs[]

Most collars are found on walks, though the player can buy the Red Leather Collar and Black Leather Collar in the Pet Supply & Discount Shops. Besides the collars having different colors and material, each one has the same function.

For the US versions of the game, none of the collars are version-exclusive. However, the Rhinestone Collar and Pearl Necklace are not available in the Japanese versions.

Leather Collars[]

A Leather Collar is the most common collar that is found on walks.

There are six variants of this collar to collect, with two available for purchase at the start of the game.

Nintendogs + Cats[]

Unlike the original Nintendogs, collars are no longer found solely on walks. As the player gains Owner Points, different collars will become available for purchase either at Coletta or at various BARC stores on the Neighborhood, Mountain, Downtown, and Seaside routes.

Some color variants of certain collars are version-exclusive. However, it's still possible to obtain version-exclusive items through either StreetPass or the Pedometer.

A Bell Collar is made thinner than a Leather Collar and has a little bell that makes noise when equipped to a pet. Although the description suggests Bell Collars were intended for kittens to wear, it's possible to put them on puppies too.
