The Basset Hound (Japanese: バセット・ハウンド Basetto Haundo) is a breed of dog introduced in Nintendogs + Cats.

The Basset Hound was originally bred to help track and hunt rabbits, hares, and pheasants. The spirited dogs' short legs were bred in so that hunters could keep up with them, making Basset Hounds popular among hunters who could not afford the upkeep of horses to keep up with faster hounds.
